Loggia. Weird word, right? A loggia is an architectural feature which is a covered exterior gallery or corridor that is usually on an upper level. The outer wall is open to the elements and usually supported by a series of columns or arches. It’s amazing what you can learn when you look up a simple word
in the dictionary on your iPhone.
We aren’t getting a loggia nor do we currently have a loggia. But it does have something to do with this post. Anyways, a while back, I shared that we’d be painting the exterior of our house with Sherwin Williams Felted Wool.
Oh and in case you are new here or if you just need a refresher, here’s what the exterior of our home looks like:
Near the end of that post I told you that we needed to decide on a paint color for the vinyl siding that we have on our house. I thought by sticking with a color on the same color strip, that would make things easier than easy. But boy was I wrong, because nothing is ever really that easy.
After about 5 or 6 test pots of paint, 10 or 12 trips up and down the ladder, some moola spent at Sherwin Williams and 1,492 eye rolls from my husband, we came up with a winner. It’s the color Loggia. It’s a color I would have never chosen at first (hence the multiple test pots and so much money spent on samples) but boy does it look AMAZING with the Felted Wool.
Don’t they look really nice next to each other? Colors never come across just right on a computer screen but the Loggia is a nice, warm taupe color. If you want to see how fabulous it really looks, you’ll just have to come over. I’ve already put a little bit on the siding (in places where it won’t be conducive to use the paint sprayer) and am loving it already.
At the rate I’m achieving things, by the time I get our house painted, it’ll be time to paint again. 🙂 But seriously, I hope to spend most of my “spare” time in the next couple of weeks on this project. J.C. and I are feeling more and more at home out here, but really feel like the exterior of our home hasn’t been touched by us yet. So, hopefully after the paint is up and we change a few other things, it will feel like we are pulling up to “our” home… instead of his grandparents house that we bought three years ago.
Have your heard the phrase, “Home is wherever I’m with you.”? Well, for us, that’s a pretty true statement. I would rest easy at night knowing that J.C. and Jackson were by my side, no matter where we were. But, since we are here, we want it to feel like home… not just a house, but our safe place. A place that we want to return to at the end of the day. Our home.
