Aged Brass

Just the other day, I showed you our updated laundry/mudroom.  If you missed that post, click here.  Anyways, I’ve made quite a few more updates to the room since last time you saw it… with the help of my hot,  handy hubby of course 🙂

What seems like ages ago, I showed you the ideas I had for the laundry/mudroom.

The only thing that isn’t going to happen in this picture is that slate tile.  To keep things from looking choppy, we want the same flooring in the laundry/mudroom as the adjoining room, the dining/kitchen.  I found this light for a steal and knew it would look great in the room… as soon as you walk in the back door!

And then I found these fab cabinet handles, which are much more appropriate in size than the previous handles.

Brace yourselves ladies and gents.  Here is the before, during and after of the built-in pantry.  Before it was drab and brown…

Then I took all of the doors off and peeled up the sticky shelf liner… oh and filled the holes in that wouldn’t be needed for the new hardware as well.

And now…

Isn’t the white paint so much better than the dark stain.  Don’t get me wrong, I love “stained” things (except clothes), but this room just needed a big refresh.  And a close up of the gorg hardware!

And look how big they are.  These cabinets are ceiling height, which is 8 foot, so the handles needed to be pretty big.

A nice, hefty handle!

And I personally think they coordinate perfectly with the new light.  The picture is kind of wonky, but the fixture still looks really good!

Since then, I’ve still made a good bit of headway in this room, which I’ll show you later on in the week.  Remaining on the to-do list is:

-Add air vent

-Lay flooring

-Paint walk-in pantry (we left it paneling)

-Buy tankless hot water heater and install

-Bring washer and dryer back in

-Paint and rehang breaker box cover

-Window treaments (which by the way, I have no clue what I’m going to do)

-Art and accessories

-Flooring

-Replace all brown outlets and switches

-Paint interior of back door that leads to carport

-Figure out placement and install recessed lighting- SO EXCITED!!

And eventually we would love to add a counter with an undermount sink to the right of the washer and dryer.  There’s enough room in the space.  We will just need to find a counter to suite our needs.

What do you think of the aged brass cabinet handles and new light fixture?  I think the light fixture really makes a statement in this room.  Don’t you?  I can’t wait to see what this room is going to look and feel like after there are a few things hanging on the walls!  Leave me a comment below and tell me what kind of window treament we should use in this room.
