Shopping for Lights

I’ve done LOTS and LOTS and LOT of light fixture shopping in the recent months.  Along the way, I found many new websites/companies that have some pretty awesome lighting.  The “perfect” light can really make a room.  For example, this picture from Houzz has three different lighting sources.

One chandelier, one pendant, and two sconces on each side of the fireplace.  Lighting is key and can make or break a space.  Today, I wanted to share my favorite lighting sources with you and some of my favorites fixtures from each.  P.S. As always, click directly on the picture for dimensions, prices, etc.

-World Market

They have really cool lighting at super affordable prices.  What’s really cool is that a lot of their lamps, shades, and pendant cords can be mixed and matched.  Here are some of my favs:

driftwood orb 169

This could make a huge statement in the right room… and for only $170.  John and Sherry over at Young House Love used one a lot like it in the “atrium” of their Showhouse and I couldn’t get enough.  I would SO love to incorporate this fixture somewhere in our house.  Maybe the front bath… or the guest bedroom?!

This little lamp reminds me of my sister-in-law every time I see it.

My brother and her have had two different Dachshunds since the beginning of their marriage so I always thought they should have this lamp. 🙂

And last but definitely not least is this beauty.  I just found it on their site because it’s new, but I absolutely LURVE IT!

flower pendant

Can’!  Isn’t it great?  I could use this in any room of any house.  And if gold isn’t your thing, you could SO paint this bad boy (well, it’s actually a girl).  Anyways, I think it would look so fab painted pink or purple in a little girls room.  Right?!  And at just $100, I’d snatch it up in a quick minute.

I could seriously feature almost all of their lighting, so make sure you head on over to website to check out all the goodness.

-Shades of Light

Shades of Light has the most unique lighting… hands down.  But normally when things are unique, they become a little more pricey.  And that’s just normal.  But here’s the deal…It’s okay to splurge here and there.  Lighting is something that most people don’t change up very often… so spending a little more on it is justifiable.  Here are a few that I love:

chandi shades of light 89

If this one seems familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen it on the blog before.  I mentioned here that it would look fab over our bathtub.  It also comes in gold.  You can pick this baby up for a song… $89.

flower light SOL

This “flower like”ceiling mount is so pretty.  I think it would be perfect for a girls room… from nursery, to toddler, to tween, to bride-to-be.  I could see this light fixture growing up with the girl.  One that you would never have to change.

And then there’s this one… that’s merely just a dream 🙂

wood chandi SOL

It’s ridiculous… ridiculously fabulous and ridiculously expensive.  But it would be SO worth it!

-Lamps Plus

I’ve already purchased a lot of lights that are from Lamps Plus.  They were actually ordered off of their Lamps Plus Open Box site.  Same lights… it’s just the lights that have been ordered and returned, for one reason or another.

I ordered this one for our laundry/mudroom.

Isn’t it great?!  I seriously cannot wait to get this beauty up and running!  It will be the first thing you see when you walk in our back door and will definitely make a statement!

bronze and white sconce

How funky and fun is this industrial style wall sconce?  And the price is perfect at just under $100.

Do I REALLY need to explain this sconce?  Let’s just say it together… slowly… “FAB.U.LOUS!!!!!”

And here are a few more sources that I love to window shop AND actual shop from time to time:

-Joss and Main

-Pottery Barn

-Restoration Hardware

-Ballard Design

So, are you into lighting or is it something that has seriously never crossed your mind until just now?  Tell the truth!  Did you like any of the light fixtures that I picked out or find them extremely repulsive?  Tell the truth again.  Is your lighting style more classic or trendy?  Tell the truth one last time in the comment section below 🙂
