A couple of Saturday’s ago, I went with a group to visit the Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home in Monticello. It was such a joy to meet with some of the children and get to know them. I visited a group of teenage girls and really seemed to be able to relate to them. I told them that I hoped I could come back and maybe play makeup with them sometime. They were excited!
After I left there, I decided I would finally visit the Marketplace. There are two of them actually: The Marketplace #1 and The Marketplace #2. I wanted to find some treasure, so I went to #1 (which is where they have used items). I didn’t go in looking for anything specific because when you do that, you are normally let down, at least at thrift/junk/antique shops. They never have the same “stuff” twice.
I found a few things here and there that I liked but wasn’t willing to spend the money on them. We aren’t as far along in our home renovations yet for me to know what key pieces we will really need. I’ve never filled this house with furniture and had no exact measurement… so I skipped a few things that I liked because I was unsure if we could actually use them. Then I found this little guy…
Isn’t he cute? And for $2.45 it was a NO BRAINER! I’m attempting to better my photography skills so I took a bunch of pictures. Enjoy… I hope!
I’m like 99.99% sure this little dude is “homemade.” Pretty cool, huh? I plan on spray painting him, maybe red or green?! Then maybe running some twine or jute thru all the holes and hanging Christmas ornaments on there. Won’t it be cute? I really hate the thought of painting stained wood; however, I think it will just enhance this piece.
Next up, I found this! It’s a minnow bucket. I had to stand on my tip toes and stretch as much as I could to reach it. It was worth the workout. I got it down and liked it even more than before. It had me at hello… Wanna know why? Because it has my hubby’s name on it, J.C. 🙂
Again, working on the skills so there are plenty of picture of all the nooks and crannies…
And last but not least, this baby! I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted one. I’ve seem them at all price ranges… but figured I wouldn’t get one for any less than $12. I ACTUALLY wanted a Coca-Cola box, but they didn’t have one. I decided to buy one that was my favorite color… green!
was am still very proud of my finds. I plan on planting some plants/flowers in the box and maybe putting it on casters. And the minnow bucket… well, I might use it for kindling around the fireplace or maybe not. It might just sit around 🙂
Once these fancy finds are put to use, I’ll give you an update… especially when I make over the little Christmas tree this winter. And I better let ya go so I while have enough time to plant something in the “coke” box. Do you ever find treasures that you can’t live without? Do you buy big-ticket items or small “stuff”?!
