My first cousin, Sarah, is getting married very shortly! When she got engaged, the first thing I thought of was… Lingerie Shower! I asked her sister and my two sister-in-laws if they wanted to help me throw her a fab lingerie party! Everybody was game. Yay!
We decided to go with a pink, black, and white theme. Her favorite color is pink, black is sexy, and white is just obvious. Since I love a good DIY, I figured we could make most of the decorations ourselves. I had seen these paper flowers in the past and had told myself that I would use them at a shower someday… perfect opportunity!
Aren’t they fab? I figured they would be easy and inexpensive. Win, win! Here’s the link to the directions. They were super easy to make. Tip: Candace said to make sure you don’t forget step 2. It’s impossible to make the cuts after you have separated the tissue paper. Here’s the evidence that we actually made them and that we didn’t buy them from a store… which is what everybody asked… “where did you buy these cute decorations?”
I think they would be really cute at any shower/party/get-together. I’ve also even seen people hang them as mobiles in a nursery.
Next up, my sis-in-law sent me this pic.
Since mason jars are a dime-a-dozen in the south, this was another no brainer. We could DIY this EASY! I just picked up some black and pink tulle as well as some “flowerdy ribbon.” I’m not sure that’s the technical term… but that’s what I called it 🙂
We all agreed that the lace/tulle reminded us of lingerie and would be pretty with a candle inside. We made about 12? of them and scattered them all over at the shower. It was a very simple process. Wrap the mason jar in fabric then hot glue the “flowerdy ribbon” around the top of the mason jar to make the fabric hold. Tip: Em found it easy to stuff the extra fabric down into the mason jar while hot gluing the ribbon. It held the fabric in place to free up her hands for getting that “flowerdy ribbon” on there just right!
We spent about 2 hours making all the decorations… and there may or may not have been pizza and Coke involved. 🙂
The shower was held at my aunt’s beatiful home. She also happens to be the mother of the bride. We were initially going to have it at my “newly renovated” house. But then our house burned and plans changed and the house was not finished and a big HUGE hot mess… so we relocated.
While the other girls were working on their project, I had the pleasure of torturing myself by making this pennant banner.
Isn’t it adorable? It better be. I cut out all of the flowers with manicure scissors. It was awful… but I love the way it turned out so it was worth it in the end. I simply printed out the flowers on cardstock (2 per page) and cut them out. We then hole punched them in two spots and ran simple twine thru the holes.
Here’s the rest of the spread. I won’t say much more because the pictures can really do the talking.
And a blooper for good measure!
We had a wonderful time and the bride-to-be was gorgeous as always! If you have any questions, just leave me comment below. Talk at ya tomorrow!
