Handles, Hinges, and Hooks, Oh My!

There are a LOT of sources out there for “hardware.”  Big box and hardware stores normally carry classic/timeless hardware; however, sometimes it’s nice to use something fun and different!  There are so many different types of hardware:

  • Handles
  • Knobs
  • Hooks
  • Hinges
  • Doorbells/doorbell covers
  • Name plates
  • Curtain tie-backs
  • House numbers
  • Switch plate covers
  • Label holders
  • Shelf brackets
  • Door knockers
  • And I’m sure MANY more!

Today I wanted to share some of the most fabulous sources for hardware.  I’ll share the name of the company and some of my favorites at each.  (Just a note, if you like any of the hardware, just click on the picture to get more info and pricing!)

1.  Pulls Direct They have a ton of hardware… like a ton.  We’ve already purchased a lot of hardware from Pulls Direct.  All of the hinges, knobs, and pulls for the kitchen cabinets.  Want to see what we picked out?  These are the cup pulls that we purchased to replace our current kitchen drawer handles.

And here are the knobs that we’ve picked out to replace the current handles on the kitchen cabinet doors.  Yes, I am making things complicated and going from handles (2 holes) to knobs (1 hole).  Leave it to me 🙂

They are just really simple mushroom knobs.  I think they will be a nice change for our kitchen cabinet doors!  And lastly, the hinges.  Yes they are exposed.  No, I’m not happy about it.  I’ve never been a huge fan of exposed hinges but I don’t have a choice.  The doors are built to accommodate exposed hinges, so we’re working with what we’ve got!

Nice, huh?  The pics all look a little different; however, they are all Amerock brand and a polished nickel finish.  If you are in the market for hardware, they are having a sale on Amerock right now.  Don’t miss it!

2.  AnthropologieLet’s just say it together, “Their hardware is AWESOME!”  Every item is unique!  Here are just a few that they have to choose from.

How fab are these little letter hooks?  They would be so cute at the back door for each person to hang their items on.  Or maybe in a nursery?!  You could spell the baby’s name out.

This would be so sweet in a little girl’s room.  I’m really funny about brackets.  There are a lot of them that I don’t like; however, these pass the test!

Black, white, and gold are all neutrals… meaning this knob could be added to almost anything.  Changing out knobs on dressers is a cheap and easy fix that really makes a huge impact.

This next little hook melts my heart.  I have a thing for girafees in a baby’s room.  I have already purchased two brass girafees and a girafee print… and I don’t even HAVE kids yet.  It must be an illness.

How precious, right?!  It could even be spray painted a different color if you wanted it to stand out more.  I must have one of these when we have a kiddo.

This door handle might also have to go in my shopping cart.  I want it SO bad for the bathroom door!

The only thing I worry about is installation.  I’ll see what J.C. thinks.

3.  World Market–  Super cheap hardware and super cute to boot!

own hardware

Isn’t he cute?!  I have a thing for birds.  He would work well in a lot of different spaces!

I think I might have a thing for elephants too… geez!

These are very pretty and only $3.98 for a set of 2.

I love these.  How fun would they be outside in your little gardening area or at the back door as you are walking outside to work in the yard?  And they are pretty big at 9″ tall.

Lastly from World Market is this little guy.  I’m not sure he is considered hardware, but I like him anyways.

Need I say more?

4.  Restoration Hardware– Hardware from here is a little more pricey; however, you get what you pay for.  I also noticed that all of their hardware is on sale right now.  Hop on over to their site to find some good deals!

Love this doorbell!  So timeless AND it comes in four different finishes!  It’s on sale for $8.00.  We have a doorbell on our front porch but it doesn’t work.  That might be one of those items that gets added to the “to do” list so I can purchase this pretty doorbell!

Notice the flower detail on this rust ring pull?  Not too fancy, but it still has style.

5.  Urban Outfitters– Good prices and unique pieces.  They also run sales pretty often!

These aged brass hooks and curtain tie backs are right up my alley.  I’ve been eye balling those tie backs for over a year.  I just might have to have some!

There are so many other good sources for hardware out there.  I couldn’t list them all or you would have been here ALL day long… which wouldn’t have been a bad thing.  Do you have a favorite hardware place?  Or are you even interested in hardware?  Leave a comment below to tell me which hardware I showed you today is your absolute favorite!

  1. Hardware is one thing I have always noticed within a home. It can show off someone’s personality and I love that! But I also love a classic look… In 5 years, you may not care for the rainbow colored and shaped knobs in your bathroom. Haha! But the good thing is it seems like a quick fix. My favorite has always been the clear glass appearing knobs (like at Nanny’s for her door knobs). I think they are so elegant and classic. I loved all the ones you featured too!!
