Lights, Camera, Action

Did you know I was recently featured in a television commercial? And in less than 30 days, I’m headed to Hollywood. Now, those two things have nothing to do with each other… or this post. So maybe I should quit pretending to be a movie star?! Today I want to share my plans on some front porch updates.

Oddly enough, I don’t think I’ve shown you a picture of the front of our house. Here it be…

This picture was taken a few months before we moved into the house.  A few things have changed.  For one, the grass is greener!  We also put in a FABULOUS new front door?  Want to see?

Please excuse the mess!  We are right in the middle of construction.  I shared all about our new front door experience in another post.  If you missed it, just click here.

Since you just got a close up view of the front door, let’s discuss the front porch lights.  Well, they are kind of nice because they are motion sensor; however, they seem to stall a little bit.  You have to hang your hand out the door and wave it in front of the sensors for them to wake up and work.

In the “looks” department, I’m not sure they are ready for their Hollywood debut just yet.  It seems that they once had a cover of some sort over the lightbulbs, but they aren’t there anymore.  I’m not a huge fan of the whole exposed lightbulb look.  So, what shall we do?  Replace those bad boys.  I already have some beauties picked out and in my shopping cart.  Would you like for me to share the deets with ya?  Oh, you would?  Great!

Does it look familiar at all?  That’s because it is!  This is the same light we have chosen for the patio, just a little smaller.  If you didn’t get to see our plans for the patio area, just click here.

This is the Quorum International Pearson One-Light Oiled Bronze Outdoor Wall Light from BellacorThis light comes in three different wall mount sizes, a hanging lantern, and a post lantern.  I chose this particular light for a few reasons.  It has clear glass, which means the light won’t be dimmed.  These are the only lights on the front porch, so we need them to be bright.  I also liked the fact that the bulbs won’t be hard to change.  Just reach in and take it out… simple!

And the price?  It isn’t bad either.  These babies are $85 a pop and you get free shipping on orders over $75.  Booyah!  Let’s just say that this little lighting update is going to be a lot easier on the pocketbook than updating the front door.  I played around in Photoshop a little bit to give us a better idea of what it might look like.

Doesn’t that look better?  I think the lights are going to look nice.  And look… I even swept up that insulation and took that blue protective plastic off the threshold.  Ok, I lied.  Ain’t nobody got time fa dat!  I just photoshopped all of that out.  #hangingheadinshame

I/we have quiet a few more front porch updates in mind. J.C. doesn’t know it yet, but there’s a lot of DIY in our near future. Can you guess what we’re planning to change or add to this little outdoor space? Time will tell 🙂

Well folks, it’s been nice!  Hope you like our plans!  Once the lights are ordered and arrive, I will document each step of the install and share it with you guys!  Did you even know we had a new front door or are you just cathing up?  Tell me what you think of the lights!  Leave a comment below!

P.S. This post is brought to you by me… not Bellacor. They did not pay me to say nice things about their products. I love their lighting and their prices are killer, but those are my own opinions.
