Faster, Faster, We Need Another Master

Do you know that song? Unless you are one of my cousins or aunt, probably not. Us three girls came up with that little chant and would sing it to my aunt (their mother) when she was driving down the road. Apparently we had a need for speed. I did receive a speeding ticket the other day… maybe I shouldn’t be singing that song?! It might jinx me.

Anyways, I showed you our “not so masterly” master bathroom the other day.  There are were two small closets in there and it felt very cramped and closed off. If you missed that post, just click hereIn my head, I’m chanting this little tune.  Faster, Faster, J.C. and I Need Another Master.  Why you ask?  Because our’s now looks like this.

Here’s a before pic… Does it look different?!  I would say so!

It’s an improvement and a step in the wrong direction all at the same time.  The pony wall and the closets are gone!  On the other hand, this is our only functioning bathroom because the other one is completely torn out.  If you missed all of that action, click here.  When they tore everything out, it created a huge mess and a health hazard.  There are a few nails that are driven into the concrete were the pony wall used to live.  J.C. stumps his toes on those nails EVERY time he comes into the bathroom.  Poor guy.  And there isn’t a mirror in there anymore… so shaving (J.C.) and putting on makeup (Ros) gets very interesting. 🙂

I can start to see how awesome this bathroom is going to be!  The “tile guy” came over, gave us a quote, and said he would start work within 3 to 4 weeks.  I’m getting excited!  We will have to move out for a little bit because both bathrooms will be out of commission at the same time.  No worries, we have plenty of family members who love to take in homeless people.

So, do you want to see our plans for this room?

backbathfinal

There isn’t much there but that is because of some logistical reasons.  Is logistical even a word?  It is now!  Let me expand on the items featured above.

BELLACOR LIGHT 85

The lights are from the same line as the front bathroom sconces.  This particular light is the Nuvo Lighting Decker Brushed Nickel Mini Pendant w/Clear & Frosted Glass from BellacorAren’t they pretty?  They will hang down on each side of the mirror that will be placed over the vanity.  They were $84.99 each and we got free shipping!  I think it’s going to look so fancy with the lights hanging down from the ceiling.

Next up, the vanity!

66795 45 inch vanity lowes 650

Disclaimer- the vanity is very heavy… just ask J.C.!  The top is marble if that tells you anything.  We purchased this vanity from LowesIt’s the allen + roth Vanover 45-in x 23.25-in White Undermount Single Sink Bathroom Vanity with Natural Marble Top.  It isn’t a double vanity, because the back bathroom doesn’t really have room for one; however, it is just under 4 foot long so it’s a really nice size.  Want to know one of my favorite things about the vanity?  It has soft close hinges, which means J.C. can’t slam the doors and drawers.  #mustbeamanthing

Let’s talk paint.

peppercorn final color

The paint that we have chosen for this room is Peppercorn by Sherwin Williams.  It took me a while to find one I liked for this space, but we think this is the one!  It’s dark and moody and coordinates very well with the slate tile.  Speaking of the tile…

487244 slate 6 x 24 in tile lowes 2.48 sq ft

I found this tile online first and then went to Lowes to check it out in person.  I did the same thing with this tile as I did the front bathroom tile.  I bought a package of it and brought it home so J.C. could give me his approval.  He really likes it and I’m glad.  If you know me, I don’t handle change as well as I would like.  If he would have told me he didn’t like this tile, I would have had to go back to the drawing board… and wouldn’t have been a happy camper.

Do you like the tile?  It’s the Style Selections Ivetta Black Slate Glazed Procelain Floor Tile.  It’s very fancy looking and extremely easy on the pocketbook.  It’s $2.48 a sq ft and we only have to cover 100 sq ft.  That’s only $250 for the whole bathroom floor!  You can’t beat that.

Last but not least, the door.

sliding door

Sorry about the quality of the picture.  I actually found this pic online under Home Depot’s customer reviews.  The door is the Feather River Doors Privacy Smooth 1-Lite Primed MDF Interior Door Slab.  I would love to have it installed just like this one.  If you can’t tell from the photo, the door is frosted glass.  This will allow all of the natural light that comes into the bathroom to flow into our master bedroom.  I might need to ask J.C. if we can install it like this before I get my hopes up too much.  Please babe?  🙂

I did not include a bathtub in this picture because we haven’t chosen one yet.  That’s where the logistical problems are stemming from.  With a house that is built on a concrete slab, your plumbing is kind of “fixed.”  It can be relocated; however, it involves busting up concrete and lots of money.  So, we are going to work with what we have.  The current corner shower WILL be replaced with a bathtub… we’re just not sure which one.  I’ll let you in on the details once we have one picked out!

I also wanted to show you a few inspiration pictures.  We’re going to add beadboard around the bottom half of the room.  It will be painted bright white and then the top of the walls will be Peppercorn.  Kind of like this picture.

Isn’t it gorgeous?  That vanity is even similar to ours.  I am getting so excited about this space!  Here’s another picture I found online to give us a little inspiration.

Gorgeous!  I would also love to add a white planked ceiling… but that can be one of those DIY projects that we save for later!  We also need to decide what to do with all of the open space across from the vanity area, which is where the closets used to hang out.  I’ll keep my thinking cap on for now!

Do you like our plans?  Can you believe we are painting the top part of the walls such a dark color?  Leave a comment below to tell us what kind of bathtub you would get!

*This is not a paid post for Bellacor, Home Depot, Lowes, or Sherwin Williams.  All opinions are my own.
